Long Holiday Weekends

Hi Everybody, this is Fudge. Mom said I could write on the blog about this important new invention. It's called a three day holiday weekend. Isn't that a great idea. Three days of weekend instead of two. That means we can do lots more fun things together. This is what we did on the first day.

See this funny thing. Mom showed it to us, but we didn't know what it was.

Mom and Dad brought us all outside. Bailey brought her monkey. She takes that thing everywhere. The other day I stole it and she got really mad and chased me all over the yard till Mom took it away and gave it back to her. Bailey's tough, she could probably beat me up if she wanted to.

We were all watching Dad to see what he was going to do with that strange thing.

He took it over by where the hose is.

We wanted to help him, but he told us to go play until he was ready.

What do you think that thing is?

Look, it shoots water all over the place.

This is neat. We can try to catch the water as it goes around.

Norma Jean and Bailey are trying to drink it as it goes around.

Lola and Noah like it, too.

They're all getting their faces really wet.

Oh oh, the thing is starting to fall over.

Hey guys, you aren't supposed to knock it down.

Dad had to go rescue the water whirlygig. It was on the ground and the girls were standing on it.

That was fun. Look how wet Bailey is. Her monkey was wet, too, so Mom put it inside to dry.

Morgan was watching everything while she stayed dry and played with a stick. Morgan is having a bad day because she's afraid of the booming that she hears. Mom says it's fireworks and that they won't hurt us. The rest of us run around and bark when we hear them, but Morgan starts shaking and tries to hide.

When we came in the house to dry off and rest up, Mom went into the kitchen. That's our favorite room. We watched while she cooked stuff. She made this chocolate cherry cake for her and Dad.

Then she made us some cookies. Look at them all.

Sky and I watched them cool, then we each had one. They are so good. They have apples, bananas and blueberries in them. Those are some of our favorites. Everybody liked them, even Tsar. Mom says I have to give you the recipe, so here it is.

1/4 cup blueberries
1/2 an apple
1/2 a banana
1/2 cup milk
2/3 cup oats
1 1/4 cup rye flour

Put fruit and milk in blender and blend till smooth. Put in bowl, add oats and flour. Stir till
mixed. Drop spoonful of mixture onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 for 12 -14 minutes. Outside is crunchy, inside is chewy.

I wonder what we'll do tomorrow on the second day of our long weekend.
