Blue Bandana Day - Meet Our Friends

Back in March some of you were dressing your dogs in green for St. Patrick's Day. I mentioned to a friend that I wished there was a Portuguese holiday that my dogs could celebrate. She said her dogs would celebrate it with us. That stayed in my brain and grew.

I Googled Portuguese Holiday (what did we ever do before Google) and discovered the perfect holiday. According to Google: "The 'Day of Portugal' is a holiday celebrated every year on June 10th in every corner of the Portuguese- speaking world. It commemorates the death of the revered Portuguese poet, Luis Vaz de Camoes in 1580." I am not familiar with his poetry, but I'm sure he won't mind sharing his day with some beautiful and talented dogs from around the world.

Originally I had planned to make bandanas and send them to all our doggy friends. I even purchased a bolt of fabric. When I started calculating how many bandanas I needed to make and what it would cost to send them out, I made a slight change in plans. I asked everyone to wear blue bandanas, but as time went on and the pictures started coming in I changed that to anything blue and I'm so glad I did.
