See this large empty flower pot? It's now residing on the deck waiting for warmer weather when I'll plant flowers in it.
Until Sunday it lived in the kitchen and was home to a five foot tall snake plant much like the one in this picture from Google.
You all know that Samba is taking steroids for her jaw disease. Because of those steroids, Samba has (1) the feeling that she's starving and (2) a bit of 'roid-rage'. Lately when I've left the house without her, she's nibbled on my snake plant.
Sunday Rob and I decided to go out mid day to grab a burger. We put kitchen chairs around the snake plant in the corner of the kitchen and left, much to Samba's dismay. I could hear her screaming as I closed the door.
When we returned I fed the dogs before going into the house and then stopped to check my email. When I walked up the stairs I noticed something strange. I keep this old quilt on the end of the couch. It's nice for covering my feet when I knit or read and the dogs like to nest on it. But I saw the end of this quilt in the doorway to the kitchen. This was strange. Sometimes the dogs will drag it off the couch to nest on the floor, but I've never seen them drag it into the kitchen.
As I walked into the kitchen to pick up the quilt I found that it was covering a complete mess. Samba had moved the chairs, dragged the plant out of the pot and ripped it into pieces. She had dug out most of the dirt and spread it around the floor. Then she had covered the whole thing with the quilt. Maybe she realized after destroying the plant, that I might not be happy about her handi-work.
I should have grabbed my camera and documented the scene, but I just wanted to get it cleaned up, so I picked up the pieces of the plant, swept up the dirt and threw the quilt into the washer. Then Rob came in, saw what was going on and dragged the empty pot out the front door.
Now I put chairs around the remaining plants when I leave, but I know she can get them if she really wants them. So far, destroying the one plant seems to have satisfied her rage at my leaving without her.
Where were the others while this was going on? Hiding in the basement.
Is she sorry? Does she look sorry? I think she's quite pleased with herself.
